We are three dutch graphic designers who think they have the greatest job in the world, apart from pro football players. Our big affection for art and football led to the start of The League Extraordinaire.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Every year we invite four of our favourite artists to join the League Extraordinaire (LEO). We ask them to take the traditional double-sided football scarf as their medium and bring their world and the world of football together in one special limited edition scarf.
WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET
The scarves are made from the same synthetic wool that all supporters of European football clubs wear. Quality scarves that both hooligans and members of VIP lounges use to show their club-love. Every LEO scarf is produced in the European Union in a single run of 30 pieces. The scarves are packaged in a solid carton box that fits through a standard letter box, tagged with a numbered edition-label.
With doing graffiti as his main occupation, OG23 is very visible in the Melbourne city scape. Inspired by the 70’s NYC graffiti and riding the train as a kid, he developed his very own style. His motto “there shouldn’t be any rules in graffiti’. Same goes for football scarves as far as we are concerned!
Siggi is an artist who travelled the world while finding out what makes him tick. Currently he’s living in Berlin, focussing on drawing and doing a hell of a job at it if we may say so!! Making patterns with geometric shapes and color combinations, his work is immediately recognizable. Siggi brings Icelandig swag to get you through Winter.
The Belgium collective left behind the graffiti and spray paint and favored ink drawings, paint, sculptures and installations. Their mystic world where creatures and objects find harmony in wondrous ways leads you to another surrealistic dimension that feels like the 17 century seen with modern eyes. Classic neck-warmth in a highly synthetic way.
This Swedish artist is adding and erasing to create his abstract world of shapes. Spontaneity and magic mistakes lead to unpredictable compositions only he seems to be able to pull off. He is an all-round artist who makes collages, draws and paints. Warmth in the form of fragmented style.
Merijn Hos is an artist from Utrecht (NL) who likes to take you down the rabbit hole. His world is one that is hard to leave once you are in it. From vibrant color orgies to black and white landscapes, from oneliners to detailed madness. Instant warmth with a big grin on your face.
This dynamic duo from Amsterdam moves through all kinds of different media with their constructivist style. Their black and white compositions have become their trademark, so it figures this scarf is a feast of negative spaces and angled lines.
This guy from Utrecht (NL) has a free but at the same time sharp style. His drawings find their way from the streets to screen prints, ceramics, newspapers, animations and installations. Put some strong lines around your neck and laugh in the face of Winter.
Zebu is a team of two creatives from Berlin (formally known as Wurstbande). Their crazy abstract figures with otherworldly proportions are created with much love and a warm heart, guaranteed to keep the winter out.
